Episode 29: Cash bring some chocolate covered strawberries to SLAW, Spa talks BBQ, and Cruz gets some relationship advice

SLAW from Tuesday 3.22.11
First of all I am happy to report that I am caught up on Blogging about work lunches.  Second of all, its the end of March and SLAW is still alive and happening, yes once a week but we continue to cook for each other, sit down and enjoy a work lunch.  Good times.
It was Cash's turn and he brought
- Cheesy Meatloaf with Honey BBQ Sauce (For Mr X - recipe on Williams Sonoma.com/recipes)
- Mashed Potato Gratin with Onions and Gruyere Cheese
- Sweet Honey Hawaiian Rolls
- Home-Made Chocolate Covered Strawberries
All this from the kitchen of Mrs. Cash
Now this is a proper lunch. I would have never thought of eating chocolate covered Strawberries for work lunch and for my 4:00pm sugar crave. ;)
Our discussion during SLAW was around love, life and relationships.  Not really. We mostly talked about [censored], food, BBQ [relates to censored stuff], something about the Cosby Show, food, who we should convince to be the guest for next week's SLAW, and more food.
MR X skipped on the Hawaiian Rolls and Strawberries.  Those calories were happily divided among Spa, Cash and myself. We Love Calories!
On a sad note, someone accidentally vacuumed the carpet under SLAW Table and all those crumbs are gone :(  (J/K Spa)

Episode 28: Spa E.A.T.'s SLAW, No Salt for Cash and we really didn't talk much about anything

Late Published Blog:  SLAW from Tuesday 3.15.11
Its Spa day at SLAW.  Spa brought E.A.T. to SLAW. For our international readers, you can check out this link http://www.elizabar.com/EAT-C25.aspx.  Its simply one of the best places to go for bread, Caesar salads, and other brunch menu item... as long as you are ready to spend, E.A.T is fabulous*.
* Fabulous: A word Spa uses quite often.
Spa brought
 - Chicken Vegetable Soup
 - Eggplant ________ spread on roll
 - Buttered roll
 - Mini Fudge Brownie
Team SLAW agreed on one thing.  The Eggplant spread on the roll was simply delicious.  Another thing we agreed on, we missed SALT.  Thankfully I keep salt and pepper handy in my office and was able to get it for the team.  Mr X had trouble mixing pepper in his soup, it either floated on top or sank all to the bottom.
There was no formal lunch time discussion, or nothing I remember since its been a week.  Lunch was light yet filling quick and yummy. The brownie I would point out was the right size.  We have come a long way in controlling calories in SLAW and we have a long long way to go :)

Episode 27: Chef X presents Taquitos & Spa is missing all together

Late Published Blog:  SLAW from Thursday 3.10.11

Dear SLAW readers (yes the two of you out there in Croatia),
Sorry we are late with publishing this SLAW as I have been busy with life & work.  Mr X was chef of the day and he made some delicious Taquitos. So for lunch we had
- Home Made Taquitos with side of reduced fat sour cream.
- Newman's Pineapple Salsa with Tostitos Restaurant Style Chips
Spa was enjoying her spa time and was not at the SLAW.  I believe we talked about renovating a house and then buying a house.  Cash shared some details on renovation and advice on purchasing a house.  Mr X looked at us to make sure we were eating and liking the food which we did. :)  (share recipe when you can Mr X)
If Spa was here, she would have said
GOOD JOB!! GOOD JOB!!! , WHAT's FOR DESSERT?! @#$%& <GRUNT> <GRUNT>

Episode 26: Cash drinks water, Spa misses yogurt, Cruz forgets yogurt & Mr X Chops his Meatballs

Its my turn, a month flew by and I kept it original by bringing some
1.  Meatballs. Actually they are Koftay or as Spa called them Koftay Kababs.  Pretty much Beef meatballs but these loaded with jalapeƱo peppers and onions drenched in yummy oil/onion/tomato/garlic/ginger/red chili pepper sauce.
2.  Basmati rice but of course forgot the yogurt.  Poor Spa and Cash paid the price although I was happy to see Cash taking "seconds" and Spa taking "fourths".
3.  For desserts, I brought Halwa, particularly Suji Halwa (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halva).  Cruz provided two versions, one hard and one less cooked softer more traditional version.  These were filled with honey, dates, raisans and sprinkled with all crushed almonds and Pistachios.

Editor's Note:  I would point out that all cooking and prep work was done by Cruz's mother and since I will post this blog on her Facebook page, I would add that she did a fantastic job.
Here is a picture of SLAW table which has hosted 26 office lunch sharing adventures.  (I actually think this will make a nice print or wall poster for our offices)
SLAW TOPIC OF THE DAY: In the news and blogs, its all about the boring Oscars with James Franco high on drugs, Middle East uprisings and Charlie Sheen these days and what did we pick to talk about during SLAW...

yup... good ol' Charlie.
This was a short SLAW.  We started 12:05pm and were done with Charlie Sheen, our seconds and fourths by 12:38pm. SLAW TIP: Sharing lunch at work saves time.
Its Mr X's turn next week and he has been instructed to bring something that doesn't smell strong, no oily or dark sauce base, or onion, garlic. BUT it better taste good.
Good Luck Mr X. Good Luck!
